Artist Bohdan Borzemsky with Branch 30 president Iryna Hoshovskyj, Olia Rudyk, and Nadia Liteplo mushrooms, grape vines, and assorted fruits (from pears to watermelons); of particular interest was a unique work entitled “Lobster and Steak Dinner Plate.” Bohdan Borzemsky’s artwork can be found in many private collections and has been exhibited at numerous galleries and museums in Canada and the United States. Art critics praise his talent and his skill, while fellow artists hold him in high esteem. One art critic, the late Sviatoslav Hordyn- sky, wrote that Borzemsky’s “ingenious work in the areas of painting and graphics is unequalled by any found in Ukraine, therefore entitling him to a place above many other artists.” Perhaps the most poignant description of Mr. Borzemsky’s creative genius was offered by Volodymyr Baran, who observed that the work exemplified the “mystical charm and beauty of Hutsulshchyna, filling the heart and soul of every spectator and stirring up images of an enchanted although distant homeland.” Errata. The obituary honoring Mary Paliwoda Siwak, published on page 16 of the February 2007 issue, stated that “Mary joined the UNWLA in 1955 and became an active member of Detroit’s Branch 5, serving as financial secretary for 14 years.” Mrs. Siwak was a member of Branch 23.
