Financial roundtable 1. As of January 1, 2007, the membership dues and subscription fees for Our Life will no longer be separated, but will be sent to UNWLA Headquarters as a single sum. As stated in our Bylaws, every member of the organization must pay for a subscription to Our Life. The intent of this proposal is that the membership dues will now automatically include the subscription and that the annual dues paid by members will automatically entitle them to receive the magazine. This is a policy and practice that is quite common in other organizations and institutions. For example, dues-paying members of the Smithsonian receive The Smithsonian as a regular feature of membership. 2. In connection with this decision, the National Board voted that as of January 1, 2007, the subscription price of Our Life for nonmembers will be raised to $40 for U.S. subscribers and $50 for international subscribers. 3. We must start actively soliciting ads for Our Life magazine. 4. We must seek advice from an attorney about the UNWLA’s frozen funds and try to find a way to make better use of them. Ukraine needs help now. 5. The Eva Stashkiv Fund was established for the purpose of helping UNWLA members studying Ukrainian disciplines or other work for Ukrainian studies. It was determined that $2,000 for this fund be presented to the Chair of the Education Committee for her work in preparing materials for UNWLA pre kindergarten. M em bership roundtable 1. Membership is the most important component of every organization, and it is our duty to inform women about our work and invite them to join our organization. 2. Involve women from the new immigration to join our organization, invite them to meetings, and inform them about our activities so that they know what will be of interest to them when they join. 3. At every Branch and Regional Council event, there should be a display table with information about UNWLA accomplishments and activities. This is an effective way for the organization to advertise its work. 4. Prepare a questionnaire that addresses 10 points of concern and interest for nonmembers and ask what exactly they would like to see in a women’s organization and what they are interested in doing within the organization. 5. Prepare a bilingual (Ukrainian and English) brochure that can be given to prospective members. (A brochure in Ukrainian is already available; an English-language brochure is currently being prepared.) 6. Maintain a portfolio on the work of all the chairs for National Board on the UNWLA Website. (Vira Kushnir, the Executive Committee’s member-at-large, has agreed to do this.) Leadership roundtable 1. To work together as a team, Regional Council Presidents should have frequent contact with Branch presidents. It is their responsibility to pass on information received from headquarters to all Branches and to maintain communication with the Executive Committee. Regional Council Presidents should not wait for annual National Board meetings to pose questions or voice concerns to the Committee. Open lines of communication are essential! 2. Regional Council Presidents should ensure the future of their Regions by grooming potential candidates to take over leadership positions. This will ensure continuity and the future activity of their respective Regional Councils. Видання C оюзу Українок A мерики - перевидано в електронному форматі в 2012 році .
