To that end, the UNWLA opened a special account for Nastya at Self Reliance N.Y. Federal Credit Union. The account was opened with the consent and approval of the Ukrainian Embassy, Ukraine's Consul General Serhiy Pohoreltsev, the UNWLA Executive Committee, and Nastya's mother, Mrs. Olha Ovchar. As of Sep tember, the sum of $25,352.70 was deposited into this account. Lists of donors and their individual contributions have been published, in English or Ukrainian, in previous issue of Our Life. An updated list is included in this issue. In addition, personal thank you letters have been sent to donors, acknowledging their generous contributions. I am pleased to report that Nastya's condition has improved and that she and her mother have recently re turned to Ukraine, where Nastya will continue to receive additional treatment and follow-up medical care for several years. Before Nastya and her mother departed from the United States, the UNWLA again consulted with Natalia Holub of the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington and Consul General of Ukraine Serhiy Pohoreltsev about proper disposition of the funds designated for Nastya's medical needs. It was agreed that Nastya and her mother were to receive $5,000 in cash at this time and that the remainder of the funds would be sent to Mrs. Ovchar as needed. In a letter to Mrs. Ovchar, I explained this decision and enclosed the address, telephone number, and email address of the UNWLA. She will be in contact with us to let us know when additional funds are needed for Nastya's continued care. All future disbursements of the remaining funds will be reported in Our Life. We wish Nastya all the best and pray that her mother can continue to be strong and patient for Nastya's sake during the long healing process. May God bless them and keep them in His grace.
