Forging strong relationships between members o f Soyuz Ukrainok and leading Am erican civil, cultural, and political wom en’s organizations in all cities and states is most desirable and essential. Through such associa tions, friendship and understanding can be cultivated and action can be taken through proper channels whenever it is necessary to bring out into the open matters regarding the circumstances o f the Ukrainian people. For 19 44 and 19 4 5, the agenda o f the Ukrainian National W om en’ s League o f Am erica should be directed at forming and strengthening ties with all local and state representative and U .S. Congressmen. Furthermore, arti cles about the activities o f our branches should be submitted to local Am erican newspapers, for it is common knowledge that an organization is best known and recognized by its activities. Publicity gives our organization credibility, and this helps us achieve our goals, one o f which is to provide accurate information about Ukraine. The U N W L A is now a desig nated participant in the C F C and will participate as a National/International Organization in the 2004 campaign. The Combined Federal Cam paign (C F C ) is the annual fund-raising drive conducted by the Federal government for Federal employees each fall. Federal employees are encouraged to desig nate their charitable donations to an organization participating in the C F C . Iryna Kurow yckyj, president o f the U N W L A , urges all Federal employees o f Ukrainian descent who are committed to preserving the cultural values o f their heritage to designate UNWLA #2669 when making their annual payroll contribution pledges later this year. Federal employees, their families, and friends are also encouraged to urge other Federal workers to do likewise: “ This campaign is an excellent opportunity for the thousands o f Federal employees o f Ukrainian descent to support the cause o f preserving the cultural values o f their Ukrainian heritage. The funds that are raised will go towards: • Promoting Ukrainian national identity and cultural heritage • Informing the Am erican public about Ukrainian culture, including Ukraine’ s literature, art, ideals, and aspira tions • Providing financial assistance to Ukrainians within and outside the United States, specifically through humani tarian aid, educational studies, and research in Ukrainian history and culture • Forging effective alliances with other Ukrainian, as well as Am erican and international, organizations for edu cational and charitable purposes • Supporting the Ukrainian Museum in N ew York C ity.” Ukrainian-Am erican Federal employees now have a unique opportunity to materially boost their efforts in promot ing Ukraine’s great heritage by designating the Ukrainian National W om en’s League o f Am erica #2669 during the 2004 Combined Federal Campaign.
