In the days and weeks to follow, we were privileged to watch another proud symbol o f New York City - the brave fire fighters who risked their own lives to save others. In the hours and days that followed, all o f us watched as ordinary New York firefighters turned into heroes. We marveled at your rescue and recovery efforts, silently cheering as we saw you defiantly raising an American flag on the site of carnage and tragedy. The gallantry that we witnessed has helped make all o f us stronger. It has rekindled in all of us pride in this magnificent city and all it stands for. The Ukrainian W omen’s League of America, an organization which is headquartered in New York City, salutes the heroes o f New York. It is my privilege and honor to forward to the New York Firefighters Memorial Fund checks totaling $954.00, forwarded to us by our branches and members. Also enclosed is a list o f donors.
