In this issue, I would like to brief you on the IV Congress of the Ukrainian National Women's League of Ukraine, which celebrated the 10th anniversary of its organization this year. The Congress, held on March 3 1 and April 1, 2000, was attended by the following members of the UNWLA: Honorary President Anna Krawczuk, President Iryna Kurowyckyj, Member-at-large of the Executive Committee Marta Bohachevsky Chomiak, and Social Welfare Chair Nadia Shmigel. Invitations to the event were also extended to Scholarship Chair Luba Bilowchtchuk and former Social Welfare Chair Lidia Chemyk; they were unable to attend, but their congratulatory messages were read at the Congress. During the morning session, Prime Minister Viktor Yushchenko, Vice-Prime Minister M. Zhulynskyj and Minister Stupka addressed the gathering, both acknowledging the importance of the UNWLU. Your President was one of the first representatives of a diaspora organization to speak at the ceremony and presented official greetings from the UNWLA, beautifully penned on an elegant scroll designed by Gogo Slupchynskyj for the occasion. Natalia Danylenko, UNWLA member and Vice President of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women's Organizations, read greetings from WFUWO President Oksana Sokolyk. The President of the Organization of Ukrainian Women in Great Britain, Lesia Dekivska, also congratulated the UNWLU on behalf of the members of her organization. Women's organizations based in Ukraine were also well represented at the event. Iryna Holubyeva, President of the National Council of Ukraine, with which the UNWLU is affiliated, spoke about the significance of this special anniversary.
