Newly Elected President Itytltt KllTOWyckyj Addresses 25th UNWLA Convention Honored guests and dear delegates of the 25th Convention of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America: Today I have the great privilege to greet you as the new president of the UNWLA. Thank you so much for this trust. However, this is not just a show of trust, nor just an honor and privilege, but most importantly, a great responsibility. I deeply respect the work of the UNWLA and believe in its ideas and direction which unite us all. The importance of plans and actions is ensured by the new administration, and you, our generous members and friends, with your persistence and steadfast tendencies, guarantee the continued success and great reputation of the UNWLA. Our goals are unchanged even though the specifics of work and people constantly change. The popularity of our organization is based on the knowledge and understanding of the needs of Ukrainian women in America. The exchange of ideas at different levels of social interaction has contributed to the wide spectrum in development of our organization and will lead us into the new century. The UNWLA is a powerful organization. To represent women from all the different social strata is an idea which no other Ukrainian organization in the U.S. has been able to accomplish. Our heritage is rich and we will proudly enter the new millennium carrying these treasures for the generations to come. We, members of the UNWLA, bow our heads today in gratitude to the founders of the organization for their genius in creating, in America, this free and independent UNWLA, governed by Christian ethics, religious “НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЧЕРВЕНЬ 1999 13
