ZOREPLAVTSI (Stargazers) is performed and produced by Basia Andrusko and Pete Bama in Yardsley, PA. The songs, transportation oriented, are interesting. They include Zoreplavtsi (Stargazers) and Avto (The Car).*** Other favorites are Ukrainian-English cassettes with corresponding books which are performed, produced and available in Canada. Ukrainian on one side and English on the other, they include Cherez Zironku Yasnu (A Star Shines Brightly) — a collection of Ukrainian lullabies, Zacharovana Yalynka (The Enchanted Tree) - a story about a Christmas tree coming to life on Christmas Eve, Oy Shchhozh to za Shum (Moquito’s Wedding), and Naymenshyi Koliadnyk (The Littlest Caroller).*** But my all time favorite two cassettes are the ones my father, Dido Romko, made for his granddaughters. On the first of these, he sings popular Ukrainian tunes. My children really enjoy hearing Dido sing Khodyt' Harbuz po Horodi (The Mighty Pumpkin) and can now sing all eight verses of it on their own! On the second cassette, Dido Romko reads their favorite Ukrainian stories, including Ripka (The Turnip) and Pro Vedmedia Lassuna (The Greedy Bear) by Roman Zavadowych. I give both of these cassettes TEN STARS! Diakuyu, Tatu! Chicago, Illinois. In a recent ceremony, Illinois First Lady Lura Lynn Ryan was presented with an invitation to the XXVth Convention of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America. Mrs. Ryan commended the organization for 75 years of charitable work and promoting the rich Ukrainian culture and heritage.
