An annual UNWLA National Board meeting was held at the Days Inn. Besides reports from members, the agenda included preparations for the XXVth Convention that will be held May 28-31, 1999 at the Westin O'Hare Hotel near Chicago. The hotel is located at 6100 N. River Road, Rosemont, IL 60018 (tel: 847-698-6000; fax: 847-698-3522). The registration fee of $75.00 per delegate and the Convention Program were approved. On the second day of deliberations, Michael Savchak, son of the late Honorary President Maria Savchak, ceremoniously presented a check in the amount of $5,000.00 bequeathed by his mother toward a UNWLA publishing project. The keynote speaker was Oksana Bryzhun Sokolyk, President of WFUWO, who came from Toronto for the occasion. Professor Zoja Khyzhnyk also spoke. MC for the event was UNWLA VP Iryna Kurowyckyj. Harpist and member of UNWLA Branch 86, Odarka Polanskyj Stockert played on the 17th century harp, while Marta Wasyltziv recited 50th anniversary poem written by poetess Lesia Chraplyva Shchur.
