At the invitation of President and Mrs. Clinton, Anna Krawczuk and Scholarship Program Chair Luba Bilowchtchuk attended a candle light tour of the White House. They also visited the US Women in the Military Memorial at Arlington National Cemetaiy, which was dedicated on October 18, 1997. December 7, 1997. Carteret, NJ. St. Nicholas visited the school run by UNWLA Branch 100 at the Ukrainian American Club. Gifts were distributed by St. Nicholas after a great program by the children. Anna Krawczuk and Luba Bilowchtchuk attended and were graciously received by St. Nicholas as well as by the Soyuzanky. U.S. Postage Stamp Honoring Women in Military Service Arlington, Virginia October 18, 1997 This First Day Cover pays tribute to the issuance o f The Women in The Military Commemorative U.S. postage stamp which honors the nearly 2,000,000 women who have served in the United States military, from the American Revolution to the present day. The First Day of issue dedication and cancellation was conducted at the Women in Military Service For America Memorial on October 18, 1997. The Memorial is situated at the Gateway to Arlington National Cemetery. The face o f the Memorial is a granite Hemi- cycle built in 1932, designed to be the formal entrance to the cemetery. The addition of the Memorial gives the entrance a rich, enduring quality befitting the Cemetery. The Memorial is the country’s first major, national memorial honoring all women who have defended America throughout history. January 24, 1998. New York, NY. UNWLA Regional Council of New York City Social Welfare Chair Oksana Lopatynsky organized a conference. Branches 1, 64, 71, 82, 83, 103, and 119 participated. UNWLA Social Welfare Committee Chair Lidia Czemyk and Treasurer Anna Rak attended. Lidia Czemyk expressed appreciation and gratitude to NYC Regional Council President Aleksandra Kirshak and Social Welfare Chair Oksana Lopatynsky for the success of the conference.
