THE UKRAINIAN NATIONAL WOMEN’S LEAGUE OF AMERICA, INC. EDUCATION AND ECOLOGY CHAIRS ANNOUNCE: INTERNATIONAL CONTEST FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH entitled NATURE AND US The contest is designed to make children think about the importance of a healthy global environment and the responsibillity of each individual, adult and child, to take care of nature in order to make a healthy environment for everyone. The selection of the topic for the drawings and essays should encompass the many different perceptions and ideas of NATURE AND US. Contest participants are to write about their own environment in the country where they live, their back yard, garden, forest, villages, cities and town. Their efforts should reflect a personal understanding of NATURE AND US. Category 1: for children 7—9 years old A drawing of “Nature and Us” theme together with a short description of 30—50 words. Category 2: for children 10—12 years old A story describing “Nature and Us” theme 150—200 words. Category 3: for youth 13—16 years old A story that describes “Nature and Us” theme 500 words. CONTEST DEADLINE: OCTOBER 31,1997 Award winning works will be announced on EARTH DAY OF 1998 and will be published in a separate book. Submitted entries are to be signed using a pseudonym and age of the author. On a separate piece of paper, write your real name, address and age. Place and seal it in a separate envelope. On the outside of the envelope write your pseudonym and age. Send together with your entry. This way the judges will not know your real name until an award winning entry is chosen. Entries may be aubmitted in the Ukrainian language or in the official language of the country of contestant. All entries for this contest are to be mailed to: UNWLA Inc. “Nature and Us” P.O.
