am now a member of its Building Fund Committee. In 1976 a Bicentennial-Centennial Committee was formed in NYC, of which I was vice chair and which held the first Festival on 7th Street I invited notables to the event and served as MC there, and at many future festivals. I have been active in the Republican Party natio nally, state-wide and locally. A founding member of the Ukrainian National Republican Federation I served as vice president and acting president for a time; in the 1968 and 1972 presidential campaigns I was a member of the Women’s National Advisory Committee. I have been to the White House, attended national conventions and inaugurations, chaired Ukrainians of NY for Nixon- Agnew and for Sen, J. Budley. I have worked on all pre sidential campaings since the candidacy of Barry Gold- water and on senatorial, gubernatorial, mayoral and local campaigns as well. I was co-founder, co-leader and acting leader of the Ukrainian American Republican Club of New York (City). STEPHANIE WOCHOK Stephanie Demianyk Wochok was born in Philadel phia and attended schools in Chester County and Phi ladelphia. She is a graduate of Philadelphia High School for Girls, then while being employed by Sears, Roebuck Co., attended Temple University’s evening classes — Elementary Education. Later she completed courses in Real Estate and Appraising. She was employed by the City of Philadelphia in the Wage Tax Department in a supervisory capacity. From February 1, 1951 until retirement, May 1986, she was employed by Providence Association of Ukrainian Catholics in America, a frater nal insurance society, as clerk, then as Supreme Treas urer for 32 years. From her teenage years, she centered her life around the Ukrainian Church, and Ukrainian Youth Organiza tion: Ukrainian Catholic Youth League, Ukrainian Cultu ral Center that held meetings at the International Insti tute and sports. She served in these organization as either secretary or treasurer. Then in the late 30’s she became active in the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, Inc. Her mother, grandmother and aunt were already members of Branch 42 “Daughters of Ukraine” UNWLA and she was always asked to help at their functions and bake sales. In October 1937, Branch 52 was organized, first known as Ukrainian Journal. She was a charter member and is still a member of this Branch. May 24, 1940, Stephanie was a delegate from Branch 52 to the first convention of the Ukrainian Con gress Committee of America, Inc. She participated in the many meetings held prior to the publishing of the newspaper “Our Life”; later the format was changed to a magazine. Olena Lotosky, National President of the I served as president of Republican Business Women Inc. of NYC. I am a member of the Women’s National Republican Club, where I once held a Ukrainian program. Currently I am secretary of the NY State Republican Heritage Groups Council, having served as 1st vice president for many years. I was a member of the national council of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA). After the death of my husband Walter, who was editor of UCCA’s book The Ukrainian Heritage in America, I acted as consultant in its completion. I also served as president of the NY Fraternal Con gress for a term. On the Millenium of Christianity in Ukraine (1988) NY committee, I was on the Metropolitan Committee’s Committee on External Liaison and had Novoye Russ- koye Slovo print an article on the Ukrainian millenium. Being constrained by space limitations, I have des cribed just some of my activities over the years.... UNWLA called upon her to give a helping hand and she was always happy to serve and be involved. Mrs. Lotosky introduced her to The Philadelphia Federation of Women’s Clubs and Allied Org. Inc., an Associate Member of the Penna, Federation Women’s Clubs. Through this media much information was given about to the culture and heritage of the Ukrainian people and women’s activities. Mrs. Wochok served this organiza tion as a Board Member and then as President 1927—74 and 1986—1988. This Federation had over I00 women’s clubs that were members. In 1944 she was a member of the United Ukrainian American Relief Comm. Inc.
