The Saturday morning session included changes to by-laws, the addi tion of an ecology committee, the appointment of a resolutions committee, remarks on the work of the UNWLA by Mrs. Krawczuk, and a financial report by Taissa Turiansky. During Saturday’s luncheon, awards and certificates of recognition were presented to UNWLA Regional Council Presidents and Liaison for Branches at Large, and to branches and members who had distin guished themselves in service to the organization and the Ukrainian community. Among those honored were Branch 1 (the UNWLA’s founding branch), Dr. Ivanna Ratych for 50 years of distinguished work in Ukrainian women’s organizations including the UNWLA, and former UNWLA Treasurer Roma Shuhan, for her volunteer work as the UNWLA’s bookkeeper. Rosalie Polche and Maru- sia Beck both spoke about the early years of the UNWLA. The keynote speaker at the luncheon was Martha Boha- chevsky Chomiak who focustd on the UNWLA’s 70 year history. Saturday afternoon activities centered on the reports of UNWLA committees, seminars and discussions. Members were informed about the work of the social welfare and education committees (by Lidia Czernyk and by Trytyak respectively), about work of the scholarship committee (by Luba Bilowchtchuk) and the press committe (by Jaroslawa Rubel) and about the sta tus of +he UNWLA publication OUR LIFE (by editor-in- chief Irena Chaban and English editor Tamara Stadnychenko). A pool side luau style cocktail party that evening featured island music and dancing and was followed by a buffeT dinner. Dinner entertainment was provided by Mrs. Niia Steckiw of Sarasota, Florida.
