Ms. Singura originally wanted to work in the New York fashion industry, because sewing was one of her main interests. But her love for the many aspects of home economics led her to a teaching career. Ms. Singura who teaches high-schoolers on a daily basis,, tries to teach them not only the roots of their eth nicities through cooking different foods, but also tries to give them the encouragement they need in their daily lives. “Kids need so much today — somebody to listen to them, to give them confidence,” says Ms. Singura, “much more than when I was a kid.” Ms. Singura’s program “Discovering a Taste of Cul tures,” will be published in August in the A+ For Kids Teacher Idea Catalog. At a meeting on October 16-17, 1993, o f the UNWLA National Board, the decision was made to raise the subscription rates for “Our Life,” effective Jan. 1, 1994. — For UNWLA members, annual subscription is $25. — For non-UNWLA members, annual subsrciption is $30. — In countries other than the U.S., annual subscrip tion is $40 U.S. currency. — Single copies are $3.00 each.
