M JULY-AUGUST 1994 With gratitude we are informing that UNWLA/CCRF Joint MRI Project for Ukraine is completed and GE MAX MRI was delivered to Kyyiv Emergency Hospital on June 24, 1994. We thank all our Members, Branches and Regional Councils for the countless volunteer hours and hard work in raising funds for UNWLA Medical Fund/Chornobyl Children’s Fund. News from the UNWLA Headquarters: June 21, 1994 Dover Air Force Base, Dover, Delaware. Press Conference was held before the air lift of the humanitarian aid to Ukraine. It was a big event with coordinating organizations of Children of Chornobyl Relief Fund (CCRF), Catholic Medical Missions Board (CMMB), Ukrainian National Women’s Leagus of America (UNWLA) and US Con gressional Wives Task Force. Medical equipment and medicines for hospitals in Kyyiv, Luhansk, Chernihiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Cherkasy. Ukraine, were the recipients, However, the largest and costliest was GE MAX MRI that was purchased at cost from General Electric Services by UNWLA and CCRF for $350,000.00 and destined to be delivered to Kyyiv Emergency Hospital. The speakers at the Press Conference were: from CCRF: Nadia Matkiwsky, Joseph A Vena, Alexander В Kuzma, Valerie Burachinsky and Fr. John Kulish; Sr. Katherine G. Kelly from CMMB, Maria Janu from General Electric Medical Systems and representing UNWLA were Olga Trytyak and Luba Bilowchtchuk with UNWLA Branch 54 members in attendance.
