two years and three months. Mrs. Lototsky felt that the organization had grown to heights of a National Organization and a paper of its own was necessary. Appeals were made to all branches, advising them of the happenings in Ukraine, to donate $25.00 to the Press Fund and to arrange ways and means to raise funds for this cause. Branches supported the call of the Executive Committee and realized that without the needed funds, publication of the newspaper would not materialize, therefore all cooperated. As time went on many meetings were held with branch representatives such as Olena Shtohryn, Pauline Panamarenko, Anna Boyko, Anna Sywulak, Antonina Kulchycky and Stephanie Wochok with Helen Lototsky presiding at all the meetings. Meetings were held at the Ukrainian Club, then later in a building that was purchased by the United Ukrain ian American Relief Committee, Inc. Discussions were held as to costs, format, amount of papers to be printed and other pertinant matters per taining to the publication. Addresses were collected and a record file was pre pared. Olena Shtohryn was in charge of this phase and Stephanie Wochok helped her. Many news items were received by Mrs. Lototsky since branches and members were engaged in soliciting funds for the Red Cross, a War Mothers Club was organized, others completed First Aid Courses, others helped in selling U.S. War Bonds, in addition to being active in the Ukrainian community, for at that time also United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, Inc. was beginning its work. The name chosen for the newspaper was “OUR LIFE,” to be published on a monthly basis. In Jaunuary, 1944 the first issue was printed in the “America” printing plant. The first editor was Claudia Olesnycka, who served for two years, then Mrs. Lototsky took over the position which she held till 1951. Appeals were channeled through the newspaper for Ukrainian women to join the writers for the paper. Helen Lototsky, Olena Shtohryn, Anna Boyko, Anna Bodak, Anna Sy wulak and Julia Shustkewych. A special section was devoted to branch reports. This was a giant step forward for the organization since communication was continued among Ukrainian women around the world. A few years later even the newspaper did not suffice and so the format was changed to a magazine which has served the organization to the present day. Congratulations and Best Wishes on the 50th Anniversary of “OUR LIFE " Publication May it continue to serve its membership and the Ukrainian Community for many years!
