Галина Кузишин Halyna Kuzyszyn (1993 — ) Congratulations to ’’Our Life” on the 50th anniversary of publication. It has been an important link of Ukrainian women all over the world, providing informative and enjoyable reading to them. May our publication always reflect the varied views of Ukrainian women, promote Ukrainian culture and report on the many aspects of life in Ukraine and the diaspora. The written word is the most powerful tool in the world! Halyna Kuzyszyn English Editor REFLECTIONS ON “OUR LIFE” Stephanie W ochok In looking back to the 30’s, I recall how the Ukrain ian National Women’s League of America, Inc. grew by leaps and bounds in many cities, especially in Philadel phia, where six branches were organized including a junior branch. Membership took an active part in Ukra inian and American activities. As the organization grew, the Executive Committee saw an urgent need of publicizing the many activities of its branches. A newsletter or circular was not the answer. Upon the Executive Committee’s decision, arran gements were made to have a page in the newspaper, “America,” printed in order to promote the organiza tion’s objectives, reports of the branches and the cur rent news items about women’s activities. The heading of the page was “News from UNWLA,” and the printing of this page was started in Nov. 1939, on a semi-monthly basis.
