delegate of the western diaspora. I wrote about this event in the November 1992 issue of OUR LIFE. At this time I would like those present to consider the important issues facing us today: 1. In what direction should the work of our organi zation proceed? 2. How should we deal with Ukraine in terms of cooperative efforts? 3. What are our responsibilities here in the United States, where we live? 4. Our cooperation with women’s organizations in Ukraine — what should it be? 5. What should we do to preserve ourselves as a nationally identifiable group in diaspora. What should be done to encourage younger women to become members of UNWLA? I would like to ask the presidents of regional coun cils to encourage branches in their particular regions to send delegates to the upcoming convention. A large participation of delegates ensures, to a great degree, the success of the convention. (loose translation from Ukrainian) MOTIONS APPROVED BY THE NATIONAL BOARD OF UNWLA DURING ITS MEETINGS ON NOVEMBER 14-15, 1992. 1. Inform young women, who as yet have not joined the ranks of UNWLA, about the goals and the work of the organization, thereby inviting them to become mem bers. 2. In our communities, support the existing cultural and charitable vehicles which we have founded and through which we function. If we are strong here we can influence the government agencies in providing aid to Ukraine. 3. Establish contacts with various women’s organi zations in Ukraine and send them copies of OUR LIFE. In this way they will become familiar with our work. 4. All welfare activities of UNWLA must be coordi nated through the welfare program of our organization. Our communities must be informed about our welfare activities and this can be achieved through the press. 5. By any and all means support The Ukrainian Museum and help the institution to achieve its goal for 1993 — a new museum building. 6. The education chair of UNWLA should make every effort to see that branches strengthen their super vision of the pre-school program. 7. In 1993 OUR LIFE, the official organ of UNWLA, will celebrate its 50th jubilee. Regional councils and branches are encouraged to mark this important occa sion. 8. Raise the cost of the subscription of OUR LIFE by $5 per year. 9. Encourage branches and members of UNWLA to send subscriptions of OUR LIFE to Ukraine.
