Branch #4. Fr. I. Tyrsa Pavlak, President of Branch 4, Oka Hrycok, Luba Siryj, Conference Chairman, Mary Gecha, Laryssa Skoryk, Oksana Bokaio, Nadia Nynka, Cathy Choma, Lina Chromowska, Luba Bilowchtchuk. The gala dinner was graciously served by the Embassy Suites staff at 8:00PM Saturday night. The entertainment was organized and MC’d by Ms. Oksana Korduba. The music and vocals by Stanislaw and Olga Kosiv and the Bandurist trio headed by Olya Chodoba- Fryz were most delightful. Dr. Marta Bohachevsky-Chomiak was the main speaker. Her impressions of her recent trip to Ukraine, her meeting with Larysa Skoryk and her comments on the role of Ukrainian women was most interesting and revealing. After the Ukrainian Sunday Mass, probably offered for the first time in any Embassy Suites meeting room, the conference again divided into its various panel discussions. MEDICINE AND ECOLOGY Pediatrics: Daniel Schmorhum, MD Presenter: Jurij Savyckij, MD Bozhena Olshaniwsky Recently, the Ukrainian-American Medical Association sponsored a trip to Lviv and Kiev for its membership and guests. THE PRESS: MAKING CONTACT WITH UKRAINE Moderator: Roma Sochan-Hadzewych Panelists: Chrystyna Lapychak Nadia Svitlychna Eagerly, we read news articles about the events in Ukraine. But how does the reporter in the United States have access to this information? This panel addressed the pursuit of such news. At 1:30PM the conference was brought reluctantly to a close by Dr. Oka Hrycak, Program Chairperson and member of UNWLA Branch #4. Dr. Hrycak delineated the future needs of the Ukrainian people as she gave a careful synopsis of each panel. She also expressed the wish that the next confer ence be sponsored by and take place in the American Mid-Western diaspora. Branch #4 of the UNWLA of New Brunswick, New Jersey, the key organizers of “ Ukrainian Woman in Two Worlds” were pleased with the turnout of over 150 peo ple. Although it may have been smaller than in previous years, nonetheless the conference brought out some of the best informed, interested and enthusiastic partici pants ever! We all shared ideas, suggestions and friendships. We realized that the ancestral tree of life — Ukraine, had spread her seeds all over the world. Many had fallen on fertile ground and prospered. Now we are to give new life to the ancestral roots. Tyrsa Pavlak — President UNWLA Branch #4 New Brunswick, NJ
