In her opening remarks Mrs. Savchak emphasized that the Executive Board of UNWLA took great care to encourage and promote the growth of membership in the organization. Through the combined efforts of Mrs. Olha Hnatejko, Vice President in charge of membership and presidents of Regional Councils, two new Branches — in Philadelphia and in New Jersey — joined UNWLA. Branch #8 in Ohio was activated. A conference on membership was held in Chicago. Members of the Executive Board visited numerous Branches to advise them on various aspects dealing with membership. Sev eral Branches were also visited on the occasion of their anniversaries. The third woman’s conference — Ukrainian Woman in Two Worlds — is scheduled to be held in the Fall of 1989. The generosity of Branches was admirable in their support given toward the publication of the book “His tory of the Ukrainian Church” and to the Ukrainian Museum for its exhibition “Masterpieces in Wood — Houses of Worship in Ukraine.” This support was U N W L A ’s contribution to commemorate the Millennium of Christianity in Ukraine. The Executive Board was not able to coopt a repre sentative to the English speaking Branches. The efforts to enlist 100% subscription to OUR LIFE in all Branhces is a slow process. U N W L A Is actively involved in managing the Lesia and Petro Kowaliv Fund and the Eva Stashkiv Fund. A substantial number of UNWLA members took part in the 5th Congress of WFUWO. U NW L A also took an active part in 100th anniver sary celebration of the ICW in Washington, D.C. in June. The slide presentation of Ukrainian illuminated manuscripts, prepared by Dr. Daria Markus enjoys great popularity and is utilized by branches and schools. Also popular is the collection of the historical costumes of Ukrainian women, which is the property of Branch #64. Scholarships — many former U N WLA scholarship recipients have finished school and are currently pro fessionally engaged in Ukrainian studies. Medical Aid for Children — this year the fund helped youngsters from Ukraine who came to U.S.A. for medi cal treatment. It was agreed that the XXII Convention of UNWLA will be held in Detroit, Michigan. 24 НАШЕ Ж ИТТЯ”, ГРУДЕНЬ 1988 Видання C оюзу Українок A мерики - перевидано в електронному форматі в 2012 році .
