RESOLUTIONS PASSED BY THE NATIONAL BOARD OF UNWLA, OCTOBER 24-25, 1987. The implementation of the resolutions passed by the XXI Convention of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America — that is the current task of our organization. Concurrent with the Convention confirmation that wo men in organizations have the strength and power to influence events of historical significance, a welcome is extended to Ukrainian women to join in the work of UNWLA. To realize these tasks, it was decided: 1. To engage all efforts to increase the membership of existing Branches; to create new Branches; to form Branches in communities distant from Ukrainian cen ters, to encourage membership of members-at-large; to open communication with non-active Branches; to take advantage of UNWLA’s membership in the National and International Council of Women. 2. In the field of culture and education to work as prescribed by the resolutions of the XXI Convention. 3. To create interest in folk art, organize special groups within Branches for that purpose. 4. Organize more pre-school classes for children. In vestigate the possibilities of organizing day-care centers. Undertake a program to inform the younger generation of Ukrainians about the history and the present status of Ukraine and its people. 5. Continue the program of the Welfare Committee. Develop a proqram to aid senior Ukrainians who live in the U.S. 6. Continue the current scholarship program and intro duce it in other countries. 7. Pay particular attention to the needs of OUR LIFE magazine during the entire term. 8. To provide financial aid and wipe out the deficit within the budget of OUR LIFE: a) hold lotteries to support the Press Fund; b) encourage sponsors to fund a page in OUR LIFE —$250.00 per page; c) encourage the use of the publication for various announcements, such as birthday congratulations, etc.; d) send fundraising lists to Branches to facilitate rais ing of money for the Press Fund. 9. Continue to print diaries of Regional Councils on the pages of OUR LIFE. Within Branches, the activities should be recorded to individual chairmanships. Take advantage of the press by using it to inform the public about the work of UNWLA, which also helps in encou raging new membership. 10. Regional Councils will evaluate the work of its Branches during this term and will recommend one Branch from each Region for the awards at the next UNWLA Convention. Branches not part of any Region will be evaluated by the Executive Committee of UNWLA. The criteria used for the awards will be established by the Executive Committee and sent to all the Branches. 11. Members of the National Board will support the activities of the National Millenium Committee in widely distributing information about the 1000 years of Chris tianity in Ukraine. 12. The National Board credits the following: — The Convention Committee and the Publications Committee of the XXI Convention of UNWLA for their successful accomplishment of designated tasks; — Regional Council of New Jersey for bringing to order and caring for the Ukrainian section at the Museum of Immigration; — Regional Council of Detroit for purchasing a build ing for the organization. Читачів журналу "Наше Життя”, які не скла дають його в річники, просимо, якщо можливо, при силати нам журнали за місяці: квітень — ч. 4,1987, та липень-серпень ч. 7 1987.
