THE UKRAINIAN MUSEUM — A CULTURAL EXPERIENCE their great appeal to old and young alike, are drawing numerous enthusiasts to learn and appreciate the beauty of Ukrainian folk crafts. The World of William Kurelek, is a dramatic exhibition of the works of Canadian born of Ukrainian descent artist, William Kurelek. The exhibition opened at the Ukrainian Museum on March 8th, for a viewing period of two months. William Kurelek (1927-1977) was a remarkably prolific artist whose work was the embodiment of his Ukrainian heritage, the realities of Canadian rural existence and his almost obsessive religious convictions. In this com bination Kurelek left a rich historic legacy in images rather than words (although he was also a writer). 1987 is a year filled with new ideas and projects for the Ukrainian Museum. The popular institution in the heart of the Ukrainian com m unity in New York City has begun its second decade of activity with exciting new exhibitions.
