RESOLUTIONS OF THE XX CONVENTION OF THE UKRAINIAN NATIONAL WOMEN’S LEAGUE OF AMERICA The Delegates of the XX Convention of the Ukrainian Women’s League of America, being held during the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian women’s movement, honor the memory of the pioneers of this movement and its followers for their efforts to secure equal rights for women who served their nation and supported its struggle for liberty and independence. Delegates of the XX Convention urge the National Board and the membership of UNWLA to continue the esteemed traditions of the Ukrainian women’s move ment in all their future endeavors, adhearing to the principles of unity, religious tolerance and political non- partisanship. Delegates of the XX Convention of UNWLA send greetings: — To our sisters in the Ukraine, especially to those incarcerated and repressed, who with dignity and dedi cation fearlessly defend the rights of the Ukrainian people. — To the Hierarchy and spiritual leadership of Ukrain ian churches. All members of UNWLA are urged to join in the act of ecumenical commemoration of 1000 years of Christianity in the Ukraine. — To the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations. Members of UNWLA are encouraged to give moral and material support to their very important work. — To the World Congress of Free Ukrainians. UNWLA pledges its endorsements of the consolidation of con structive forces within Ukrainian communities to aid our captive nation. Following are Convention Resolutions for individual chairmenships of the organization. MEMBERSHIP 1. Utilize all opportunities to promote UNWLA and pro vide information about its work. 2. Initiate a membership drive and create new Branches of the organization, particularly for and with young women. 3. Organize Sub-Branches, where teens between the ages of 15-18 could work in conjunction with the adult Branches. 4. Popularize the drive to enlist women into UNWLA as m embers-at-large whose geographic location precludes an active participation in Branch activity. 5. Continue to hold regional and inter-regional confer ences, as well as seminars which provide the back ground for leadership in Branches. CULTURAL 1. Nurture the Ukrainian language. 2. Mark the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian women’s movement with commemorations in local Branches and regions. 3. Mark the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian organ ized community in the United States. Gather histori cal data, photos, memorabilia and reminiscences of early immigrants. Note outstanding occasions of that period with special activities. 4. Participate in community projects in preparation of the celebration of the 1000 years of Christianity in the Ukraine. 5. In March, observe in appropriate ceremonies the input the Ukrainian woman had in history and cul ture of our nation. 6. Arrange cultural presentations, adhering to artistic excellence by using professional talent. 7. Promote UNWLA’s publications and utilize informa tive materials provided by UNWLA, which are availa ble in the headquarters. 8. Make proper use of Ukrainian and English films which deal with a theme or topic pertinent to Ukrainians. FINE ARTS AND MUSEUM The XX Convention proudly acknowledges the syste matic growth of The Ukrainian Museum in New York and its vitally important cultural and educational role. To promote its further development, it is imperative to continue with the following projects: 1. The Museum is in need of new premises. In coopera tion with the Mueseum’s administration a “Year of The Ukrainian Museum” campaign can be initiated, during which funds can be collected for a new building. 2. Intensify the search for artifacts and objects of Ukrai nian folk art and register them. People who own such objects should be urged to donate them to the Museum. 3. Campaign for new members for the Museum in your communities. 4. Arrange festivities to make “The Week of The Ukrain ian Museum” in areas where Branches and Regional Councils have headquarters. 5. Continue to collect photographs with historical and ethnographic significance depicting the life of Ukrai nian people in our homeland and abroad. 6.
