In conclusion we try to keep abreast of the various articles about the Ukraine and its people, that appear in the news media, magazines, etc., and if there are any mis representations, we voice our complaints by either calling or writing to the source. We do hope that in the future perhaps we can take an even more active part in the Ukrainian Community. One way of doing so, is to be a good Soyuzanka. Olga Liteplo, President thru 12/31/79. Dear Editor: It is always with pleasure that I re ceive ’’Our Life” . Because I was born in the U.S. before World War I am unable to read Ukrainian. I turn to the English sec tion of ”Our Life” and try to keep in touch with my ethnic people to the best of my ability. I read with great pleasure on page 28 of the December 1979 issue about the U krainian P hoto-D ocum entation Project. The creation of a Center like this will help preserve the history of the cul ture, tradition and daily life of the Ukrainian settlement in the U.S., es pecially its pioneer phase. All my life, I never really knew what I was or where my ancestors came from. But now I want to know my history and I want the truth. I have been trying to get a history of the Ukrainians in America, but I have not been able to find any. I found one wonderful book written by Emily Balch in 1910 (available from Arno Press), but I am still trying to find a more recent book written by one of our people about our experience in America. Anna Senior Staten Island Branch CORRECTION Correction of typographical error in the Feb. 1980 issue of Our Life: In the editorial column on page 22 second paragraph from the bottom o f the page, the sentence should read: ’’But the m em ory and knowledge of heroic deeds of others obliges each individual to a cer tain amount of effort, not just to loud words of praise and respect.” НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ, КВІТЕНЬ 1980 27
