dignitaries, prominent Ukrainian insitiute members and friends. Other activities throughout the year included: 1. Regional Council Membership Workshop 2. Annual Card Party - luncheon and raffle to raise money for senior citizens building Fund. 3. Participated in Detroits Ethnic Riverfront Festival for the 5th year. The Chapter’s Booth was called ’’Chervoni Maki”; 4. Other activities - aid to local parishes in a banquet honoring Senior citizens; participated in Regional Council Fashion Show; assisted with the swine flu sh ots program; co-sponsored a ’’Roast” for Director of Soul of Ukraine Radio Program, Oresta Karalach, on its 5th anniversary. Helen Sedorak, Press Secretary DETROIT REGIONAL COUNCIL ’’Anastasia Volker Branch 80” We enjoyed a most fruitful Bi centennial year. Most of the activities centered on educational programs for its membership. Under the tutorship of Stephania Dub - Cultural Director of the Detroit Regional Council, we held four work sh o p s at which sh e very capably taught us Bukovinian Stitches. "Flounce embroidery”, or Hlawde. A very interesting lecturer, Vera Andruskiw, a teacher of languages by profession, spoke to our membership on "The Proper & A ccepted U sage of the Ukrainian Language”. In keeping with the Bicentennial Year, Mrs. Dorothy Paul from the Macomb G eneological Society spoke to us on how to start our family gen eological research. She su g g ested sources, periodicals, books on this subject. Our final speaker for the year was a gentleman from the Gabrial Richard In stitute who explored the rewards of public speaking with us. Being part of the Regional Council, we co-operated in their sponsored activities as demonstrators, models, h o ste sse s and representatives at the following affairs: C o m m u n ity B i c e n t e n n i a l Planning Meeting Mercy C ollege - ’’Membership Expansion” C onference B i c e n t e n n i a l E a s te r E g g Extravaganza Regional Council Bicentennial Woman’s Day Ukrainian Bicentennial Folk Art- o-Rama Treasures of Ukraine (Heritage Exhibit) Contributed to the Mary Beck Bicentennial Dinner Ceramics demonstration at Local library It is interesting to note that our chapter has thirty two members, of which, twenty two were active this year. S ince we were unable to have a community money raising affair this year, each member pledged ten dollars (which sh e raised personally in her own innovative way). We will share som e of the ingenious m ethods used by our membership in our next report. We thank God for the past year. We also w elcom e our relatively new member, Wanda Sedlak as our new president and pledge our support. A special w elcom e to our two new members, Faye Molloy and Marie Lambourne.
