M ary K rafto n w as selected to be th e C h apter’s delegate to th e U NW LA Convention in Chicago in Ju ly while an o th er m em ber Olga S h u ster w as slated to speak as a panelist on a phase of h u m an rig h ts a t th e Convention. M rs. Zaio W oodford Schroeder of th e F ederation of W om en’s Clubs of M etropolitan D etro it of w hich C hapter 37 is an active m em ber will also be a panelist. Our spring “P ysan k a Games P a rty ” was a huge su ccess! One of th e attra ctio n s of th e evening w as a beautiful P ysank a poster created by L averne Veilleux, our vice president. Now we can fu l fill our $200 pledge to th e B uild ing F und of th e U N W LA De tro it R egional Council. F o r a C hapter of nineteen m em bers we th in k we are doing great. To pay fo r an inlaid U k rain ian wooden plate w hich th e ch ap ter purchased fo r its arch ives, m em bers re n t it fo r one dol la r a m onth. N ettie D olard re n t ed it fo r M ay to share w ith th e Oak P ark B usiness and P ro fe s sional W om en’s Club w hich held its m eeting a t h er home. She gave a talk on U krainian art, m usic and dancing and later d em onstrated th e p y san ka dec o ratin g art. Besides being U N W LA B uild ing F und C hairm an of th e De tro it R egional Council, A n a sta sia V olker has com pleted a long and strenuous series of pysanka w orkshops and dem onstrations. A t th e June m eeting held a t th e hom e of M rs. N icholas Ste- chisen, M rs. Donia D em ray showed th e slides she took on h er v isit to H aw aii in M arch. H er pictures show our fiftie th s ta te as a blending of Polyne sian, oriental, and A m erican cul tu re s m aking it a beautiful, ex otic sta te w hich we are proud to have as a p a rt of our w onder ful U nited S tates of A m erica.
