YOUNG TA LEN T OF 1967 O ksana B orushenko, a young h isto rian from Brazil, has been selected by “Our L ife” m agazine as th e ‘‘Y oung T alent of 1967.” O ksana w as born in W arsaw in 1939, and as a sm all child em igrated w ith h er p aren ts to B razil. H ere she com pleted h er u niversity studies in C uritiba, P aran a, in 1963, and in 1964 she passed th e required exam ina tions w hich qualified h er to teach in secondary schools. W hile still a stu d en t she w orked in th e D epartm ent of H istorical R esearch, and sh o rtly a fte r em b ark in g on h er teachin g career was appointed by th e P ara n a D e p artm e n t of C ulture as director of cultural exhibits and festivals. In 1967 O ksana B orushenko was nam ed a ssista n t professor a t th e F ederal U niversity of P a ran a. She is cu rren tly involved in research on im m igration to B razil and is p rep arin g for h er doctoral dissertatio n a stud y of U krainian im m igration to th is country. The stud y will be pub lished by th e un iversity in book form shortly. H er expert knowledge of th e problem of im m igration has served th e U krainian wom en in B razil in good stead. O ksana Bo rushenko delivered a lecture on th e U krainians in B razil a t th e Conference of U krainian W om en’s O rganizations w hich was held in C uritiba in June, 1967.
