A n astasia Volker, U N W LA V ice-President, has re cently com pleted a to u r of th e E nglish-speaking B ranches of UNW LA in th e E a ste rn states. On October 3, 1967, she visited UNW LA B ranch 72 in New Y ork. The B ranch has its head q u arte rs in th e U krain ian A m er ican In stitu te . On O ctober 4 she w as a g u est of B ranch 53 in Long Island City. The m eeting w as held in th e hom e of M rs. D. Gallan. On Oct. 5 she visited th e new ly-founded UNW LA B ranch 32 in N ew ark, N. J. The m eeting w as held in th e B ranch 28 Clubroom a t th e U krainian N ational Home. On Oct. 6 she w as a gu est of B ranch 52 in P h il adelphia, Pa. H elen W oloschuk New Y ork The D etro it R egional Council now coordiates organizational w ork betw een 11 C hapters and 2 A uxiliary C om m ittees. The area has gained in m em bership. Since constitutionally th e R e gional Council serves as a coor din atin g com m ittee in th e R eg ion and is responsible fo r h a r m onious w ork betw een th e C hap ters, th e U krainian coom unity and th e general com m unity, it does not plan an extensive p ro g ram of its own. In stead it em phasizes an active p rog ram for th e individual C hapters and th e S tanding Com m ittees. D uring th e last y ear th e Coun cil forged ahead and trie d to con tinue w ith its planned program , n am ely : 1. The Council’s B ulletin, a q u arterly publication w hich re p o rts about th e Council’s activ ities ; 2. The B uilding F und fo r th e Hom e fo r th e Elderly, sta rte d in 1958; 3. C hapter 64’s H istorical Cos tum es Show. 4. Tours th ro u g h Regions of U kraine -— C hapter 81 — Volyn and C hapter 76 — Lem ko region. 5. Public R elations and E x hibits. 6.
