V IS IT TO U N W L A W E S T E R N B R A N C H E S On th e occasion of th e ir p a rti cipation in th e G eneral F ed era tion of W om en’s Clubs Conven tion in SanFrancisco, Calif, in June, M rs. S tefan ia P u sh k ar, U N W LA P resid en t, and M rs. M ary D ushnyck, its public re lations chairm an, visited th e U N W LA bran ch in San F ran c is co, and subsequently M rs. D ushnyck visited th e Los A n geles branch and M rs. P u sh k ar th e D enver, Colorado one. A t th e m eeting of B ranch 62 in San Francisco, atten d ed by m em bers as well as husbands and children, M rs. Y aroslava Orenczuk, president, cordially welcomed th e tw o guests, who w ere th en presented w ith flow ers by you ng sters in costum es. M rs. P u sh k ar in h er address spoke in com m unity education of th e new generation, p re schoolers and teenagers, helping m others educate children of m ixed m arriag es (U krainians w ith no n-U krainians), social service pro gram s in conjunction w ith th e UCCA and o th er groups, and practical courses fo r m em bers to enable th em to p re serve our U k rain ian trad itio n s. She also spoke of h er trip to T eheran la st y ear and develop m ent of our in tern atio n al con tacts. M rs. D ushnyck discussed th e p articipation of th e 2 U krainian delegates a t th e GFW C conven tion, th e re p o rts th e y presented a t its In tern atio n al Clubs lunch eon (a t w hich M rs. O renczuk w as a g uest) and th e ir app ear ance in a docum entary film . She also m entioned th e U N W LA m em bership in th e N ational Council of W om en of U. S .; th e recen t opening of th e U k rain ian Folk A rt M useum in NYC and th e wide coverage it re ceived in th e A m erican p r e s s ; our contacts w ith B altic and o th er ethnic groups, etc. Follow ing th e re p o rts an in form al reception w as held, w ith delicious refresh m en ts prepared by th e “Soyuzanky” and discus sions continued on various sub je c ts in w hich th e m en took an active p art. D uring th e ir San Franciscco stay , M rs. P u sh k ar and M rs. D ushnyck w ere tre a te d m ost hospitably by th e ir fellow U k rainian s, including “Soyuzanky” D r. N adia Sorokiw ska and M rs. Orenczuk, to all of w hom th ey are v ery g ratefu l. T h eir sig h t seeing to u r of a redwood fo re st and th e Pacific coast as well as San Francisco, th e P aris of th e W est, will long be rem em bered. M. D .
