U N W L A B R A N C H M ARKS 4 5 th A N N IV E R S A R Y Branch 1 of th e Ukrainian National Women’s League of America marked its 45th anni versary in December, 1966. The Branch, founded in 1921, was form erly known as the “Wom en’s Society.” W ith th e founding of the UNW LA in 1925 it be came the fir st Branch of the newly-form ed association. The Jubilee of th is pioneer UNW LA Branch was attended by UNW LA President Mrs. Ste phanie Pushkar, who addressed the membership at the Jubilee Banquet. S U R V E Y ON FO LK COSTUM ES U N W LA Folk A rt Chairman Mrs. Maria Rzepecky is now w orking on a survey of Ukrain ian folk costum es. It will include 20 colored pictures of different sty les and descriptions in both Ukrainian and English. This sur vey will be a valuable study of Ukrainian native wear. A leader sees things through the eyes of his followers. A lead er puts himself in their shoes, and helps them make their dreams come true. T he U N W L A E x e c u tiv e Board N E W UN W LA BRANCH INSTALLS OFFICERS An E nglish speaking branch of the Ukrainian National Wom en’s League of Am erica was founded for the Newark-Irving- ton vicinity on February 28. Mrs. Irene Lewycky, of the Regional Council, welcomed the new Branch, and then introduced Mrs. Mary Dushnyk, Public Re lations Chairman, who outlined the by-laws of the UNW LA. Many members of Branch 28 braved zero weather to welcome their sister branch, and offered their m eeting room for future use. The follow ing officers were in sta lled : Mrs. Dorothy Losowy — P res ident ; Mrs. Marlene Bratach — Vice P r e sid e n t; Mrs. Mary Ro- how sky — S ec r eta r y ; Mrs. Mary Tofel — T reasu rer; Anne Dubas — Organizational Chairman. The UN W LA w as organized fo rty years ago, and has a so cial, welfare, civic and educa tional program. All women of Ukrainian descent are invited to attend future m eetings by th e Branch in the Branch 28 m eet ing room, Ukrainian Center, 140 Prospect Ave., Irvington, N. J.
