In February we commemo rated Lesya Ukrainka. In March the Chapter p arti cipated in the Federation of Women’s Clubs “Crowley Days” This is the Federation’s annual one-day project which the Craw ley Dept, stores features. The federated Clubs are invited to put on exhibits, take advantage of special sales, take in the F ash ion Show, and spend the day in the store. In retu rn the Crawley Store gives the Federation a per centage of it’s proceeds for the day. Chapter 37 had a display of embroideries, ceramics, wood carvings, pysanky and pasky. Al so, dem onstrations in decorating pysanky throughout the day. M yrtle Slaby and A nastasia Vol ker were in charge of the p ro j ect w ith the Chapter’s “pysan- charky” participating. The Chap ter was a winner of $25 for hav ing a 100% member attendance in the Store on this day. During March our Chapter participated in a conference on “Rearing Children of Good Will,” which was sponsored by the Uni versities, P.T.A.’s, Women’s Clubs and Churches in the Det roit area. Also, during this m onth our members were deeply involved in the D etroit’s celebra tion of SUA’s 40th Anniversary at which our National President, Mrs. Helen Lototsky was the honored guest. April was the C hapter’s py- sanka p arty project, one of the fund raising events. Also, it was a W ork Shop month. Donia Dem ray and Stephania Fedyk helped Chapter 58 members and our own by cutting out Ukrainian blouses, selecting m aterials and suggesting designs. Each mem ber has been busy ever since in both Chapters embroidering her own blouse. During the summ er m onths the W ork Shop Project goes on. Donia Demray and Stephania Fedyk prepared needle kits, and apron kits, which are a “do-it- yourself” items the Chapter sold at the Old World M arket. Ann Stechison is in charge of the Chapter’s knitting projects. The members knit afghans which have been presented annually to the geriatric Division patients at the Northville State Hospi tal. During September our Chap ter “pysaneharky” cooperated with the Regional Council which had pysanka dem onstrations at the Michigan State F air for 9 days. November was a busy month. The Old World M arket at the International Institute found our members tending the U k rainian Booth, and doing craft demonstrations. Also, the SUA convention in New York was a t tended by our newly elected president, Stephania Fedyk. December. Regional Council Annual m eeting and conference demanded our attention. Also, December is our charity m onth. Visits to the Northville Hospital, food baskets for the needy, moni- tary contributions to the R uth Alden dress project for poor girls, Retarded Children’s Fund, Community Fund, and various Ukrainian charitable contribu tions, plus the Regional Coun cil building fund. Chapter 37 is a member of the Regional Council, Federation of Women’s Clubs, M etropolitan D etroit Council on B etter L itera ture for Youth, Ukrainian Con gress Committee.
