Congressional Record THANK YOU SENATOR KEATING Some 800 letters of information about the World Congress of Uk rainian Women to be held on June 23-27 in New York City, with resume of Ukraine’s status to date were sent out to all mem bers of U. S. Senate and Con gress, to' U. S. Ambassadors and to many women's organizations in the free world. The World Congress of W o men received several hundred let ters of congratulations and warm greetings in response. Among them was also one from Senator Kenneth B. Keating. O'n June 30th we have received a copy of Congressional Record indicating page 10517 where we found the statement of Senator Kenneth B. Keating as he intro duced it in the Senate on June 23rd, which we are reprinting here, in part. The Ukrainian women are grateful indeed to Senator Ken neth B. Keating for this unsolicit ed kindness and expressed feeling of understanding. Washington, Tuesday, June 23, 1959. Vol. 105, No. 104, page 10517 THE WORLD CONGRESS OF UKRAINIAN WOMEN Mr. Keating. Mr. President, I am pleased to call to the attention of the Senate the convening today in New York City of the World Congress of Ukrainian Women. The Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, the largest Ukrainian Women’s organization in the non-Communist world, is acting as the hostess for this gathering, which will be attend ed by some 160 delegates from four continents. Some idea of the manner in which the brave people of Ukraine have been separated can be gleaned from a study of the places from which the dele gates to the Congress will origin ate : They include Brazil, Venezu- la, Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Canada and the United States. The slogan of the Congress is: “Ukrainian Women in the non- Communist world in defense of four freedoms, and human rights, wherever they are denied .in the world.” The delegates are dedi cated — and rightly SO' — to op posing the forces of appeasement. They work for policies of stead fast opposition to communism and of free world activities based on firmness and strength — the only language the men in the
