A very important accomplish ment of the X I Convention of UNWLA is considered the pub lishing of two interesting books, one in Ukrainian, the other in En glish. The one in Ukrainian is a scholarly treatise on Sit. Olga, Princesis of Ukraine, written by Rev. Isidore Nahayevfsky,, It was published by'UNWLA to comme morate the 1,000th anniversary of embracing Ohrflstianity bfy this famous ruler of Kievan empire. The other book, titled The W o man of Ukraine, was meant to depict truthfully, and as com pletely as it was possible for a small concise book, the role of the Ukrainian woman in history, not ably in the struggle to maintain freedom and independence of her native land, as well as in the cul ture, literature, education. There is in the book a short sketch of history of Ukraine from its early beginnings and correct data on territory and population. Also in formation on Ukrainian settle ments in the Free World is given in accordance wiitih the most reli able sources. This little book, pro fusely illustrated, may best serve the purpose of informing Ameri can women, as well as American society generally, on the attain ments of the Ukrainian woman over the centuries when she was impelled to participate in the hard struggle to maintain and preserve the tradition of her homeland. Both books may be obtained from the Home Office of the Uk rainian National Women’s League of America. WITH BEST WISHES for the XI CONVENTION of the U. N. W. L. A. from Rochester, N. Y. They were both or ganized and set in order by the Convention Committee in the of fices of UNWLA. An exposition of pictorial art was in the large main office (con ference hall). Thirteen women ar tists showed 33 of their paintings which represented various schools and techniques of work. The dele gates viewed this showing of art with great interest, as the achievement which attested to giftedness and assiduity of our women artists,. The Convention Committee bought one of the canvasses for the office of UN WLA. Another exhibit presented two rooms fitted up in modern style yet adorned wiith articles of Uk rainian folk art. These were a regular living room and a dining room, like in an average Ameri can home. However, the curtains, draperies, tab|le cloth, napkins, ceramic lamps were the products of Ukrainian handicraft, and thus the suite resembled the fur nishing of rooms in Ukraine.
