ІЗ ДИТЯЧИХ ВИДАНЬ Тарас Шевченко: Вірші. Ілю страції В. Слшценка. В-во „Но ві Дні”. Торонто, Канада. 1953. Ст. 40. Ціна 90 центів. Вже давно відчувається по треба видання віршів Т. Шев ченка для дітвори. Так важко вишукувати в Кобзарі те, що пригоже для дітвори, а ще тру дніше давати їм читати те, дру коване дрібним друком. А тут подано вибір віршів та ще й гарно ілюстрованих. Поруч відомих „Мені тринад цятий минало”, “На Великдень, на соломі”, “Тече вода з-під я- вора” є тут відомі ліричні вір ші поета, що вже стали народ- німи піснями, як “Реве та стог не”, “Сонце заходить”, “Ой, ді брово, темний гаю”. Також йо го вірші, присвячені родині, як “Сестрі”, “Сон”, “Садоквишне вий” та міркування над влас ного невеселою долею “Мина ють дні1”, “І виріс я на чужині”, “Мені однаково”, “Доля”. Всі вони доповнені ілюстраціями. Це дозволяє вірш Шевченка звязати з українським краєви дом, показує справжнє народ не вбрання мешканців і повчає про певні факти, що їх діти ні коли не бачили, як вязання сно пів чи соломяну стріху. Правда, є тут і вірші дітям тяжко зрозумілі, як “Якби ви знали, паничі” або “Дивлюся — аж світає”. Невідомо, чому са ме притягнув їх впорядник кни ги. Краще було подати щось із поем, що оспівують козаччину, яка має завжди свій чар для ді твори, Та мабуть із технічних зглядів це не було можливе. Треба привітати цю книжку, що наближує великого поета до нашої дітвори. JI. Б. У м. березні виступила з власним концертом співачка Галина Галій у Дітройті. Програма концерту склада лася з клясичнпх романсів, оперних арій та українських народніх пісень. Авторські вечорі У січні ц. р. відбувся заходами Літ.- Мист. Клюбу у Филаделфії авторський вечір Докії Гуменної. Письменниця прочитала уривок із недрукованої по вісти „Над безоднею" та репортаж із книги „Індіянська земля". У лютому ц. р. влаштував Літ.-Мист. Клюб у Ню йорку авторський вечір Людмили Івченко. її твори прочитав Микола Понеділок.
