The UNWLA National Board (Executive Board members, Regional Council Presidents, Liaisons for Branches-at-Large, Members-at-Large and Standing Committee Chairs) held its annual meeting from March 28, 2019 through March 31, 2019 at Soyuzivka Heritage Center in Kerhonkson, NY. The National Board meets annually to hear reports of its members, vote on an annual operating budget and set objectives for the coming year.
Regional Council elections were held in the first quarter of this year and, due to term limits, almost all of the Regional Council Presidents in attendance were new to their positions. As a result, a good portion of the annual meeting was devoted to a review of job responsibilities of the Regional Council President as well as other key positions in the Regional Council.
Yulia Zimmermann of Branch 107 in San Jose, California, was the initiator and project leader of the website development effort. She gave a presentation of the website to the Board and explained that this is its first release and that more functionality is to be added in the coming year. The work was coordinated by seven UNWLA committee members and a Ukraine-based web agency spearheaded by Yurko Kucherenko. The website is mobile and tablet friendly and is intended to serve as the main communication platform of the UNWLA.
Other Board objectives include a museum membership drive, modernizing Our Life magazine, adding a Members Only section to the website and establishing a Digital Marketing Committee. The National Board voted to establish such a committee and elected Yulia Zimmermann as its Chairperson. She will be working closely with Nadia Nynka, 3rd Vice President for Public Relations and Oksana Lodziuk, Social Media Chair. The focus of Digital Marketing will be on using digital technology to bring greater exposure to the UNWLA.
